Human Intelligent (HI) Workplace
Helping Leaders Help Themselves

October 13, 2025

Today’s workplace and workforce is increasingly and rapidly changing. There are numerous trends happening at the same time. As I like to refer to it as: The Perfect Human Capital Storm, of which is the title  of one of my books. They are:

1. Changing workforce psychology – the workforce is looking for purpose, happiness, autonomy, flexibility (meaning remote/hybrid work setup), and have different expectations from their leaders including for their leaders to care for them.

2. Growing aging, multigenerational, and multi-cultural workforce – there is an aging society and behind this aging workforce a growing multi-cultural, in particular Latino workforce.

3. Increasing skills shortage- this is not being helped by an aging and growing retirement segment of society.

4. Workforce Stress – work has been labeled as the 5 th cause of death due to stress. And for today’s workforce, 70% believe their boss is their biggest stress at work, and 70% of those in management feel they are under stress, while 40% are considering stepping down.

5. Employee engagement – this has reached a 10-year low and ties back to the changing workforce psychology.

6. Exponential growth of Artificial Intelligent (A) – AI has jumped to prominence in a few short years. And this has created numerous technological tools such as ChatGPT and many others that can help many to be more efficient, creative, and productive This has led “uncertainty” to become the defining word in 2025 for the second time in 35 years, only after the pandemic.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly reshaping how organizations operate, how leaders make decisions, and how employees apply skills. AI can automate repetitive skills freeing up the human workforce for higher-value work. It allows for the augmentation of decision making along with faster synthesizing of large amounts of data and information. While there are those that are concerned about its negative impact on humanity and workers there is a counter argument. Many believe AI can complement human strengths such as creativity, judgement, innovation, critical thinking, collaboration, and emotional intelligence. If history is an indicator, perhaps there is some credence to this perspective. Since when the PC came into existence, last century, it eliminated 3.5 million jobs and created 19 million. The World Economic Forum estimates that AI will eliminate 92 million jobs and create 170 million by 2030.

Already there are numerous organizations and industries tapping into the power of AI. Financial institutions are using AI for contract review, fraud detection, and automated compliance. Large retailers are using autonomous inventory scanners and analytic robots for refilling shelfs. In healthcare, AI has accelerated drug discovery and can support diagnostic image interpretation. Journalism and communications use AI for rapid summarization, automated data driven reporting, and audience personalization (btw-this article was written by the author, not AI). Education is another area where it has entered and created concern by some educators and welcomed by others. There are many more today and many more to come.

This brings me to this new term I just created (or at least have not seen anywhere else), Artificially Intelligenized (AI’d). By this I mean how humans are using AI to complement their human intelligence, skills, to enhance their human capabilities, and in turn to be more efficient, effective, productive, and innovative. All things that are needed by today’s workforce and organizations.

A couple of examples I can think of are the following. I read the recently released Artificial Intelligence Magazine (Artificial Intelligence Magazine 2025) where in the introductory piece of the magazine, it had the following, “Most of the articles you’ll read here, were originally written by AI, then re-written, factchecked, and edited”. In other words they were “humanized”, another new term I believe I’ve created. In addition, I have been using Lumen5, an AI video maker to create videos and post on my website in order to inform my audiences and clients of some of the present workplace trends with implications for organizations, leaders, and workforce. The research and content is mine, but I then add visuals and music as offered by the application to make it a more engaging educational presentation/video. The following is an example, (The Modern BoSS: 5 Key Roles).

So in summary, I do believe we will continue to see a lot more, especially as the technology continues to evolve where our human colleagues (and you too) will be increasingly Artificially Intelligenacized (AI’d).Where we can use the latest in AI, to be more effective, efficient, creative, productive, and engaging. As the futurist Gerd Leonhard says in his video, Digital Transformation: Are you ready for exponential change?

“The future is in technology, yet the bigger future lies in transcending it.” (Digital Transformation).
